Heat Delerium

Suspicion omits buildings from naming 13th floors accordingly, but these guys encapsulate the forbidden.  This jam wails hard & will be summer's anthem once it's gone.

Admit it, the heat waves sweeping across the country and globe have got us all going a little nuts, though maybe not quite as nuts as Damo and his band Can have gone.  Here' a video of them performing Paperhouse.  Recommend finding their recording of Sing Swan Song as well and trying to identify the Kanye West / Mos Def sample of Drunk and Hot Girls.

Boogaloo nostalgia of NYC summers.  Before the globalizing effect the internet had on our different coultures, boogaloo music was one of the few genres that broke barriers between us in the 1960's.  From the streets to the dance halls, uptown to downtown, everyone was encouraged to sing and dance along with these catchy tunes.

This afro-latin music comes not from a shores of a Caribbean island but instead from white sands of The Bronx, Orchard Beach to be exact.  Next summer, if you're in NYC, skip the Rockaways and the Jersey Shore one weekend and party with the Domincanas & Boricuas on the beach in the Bronx.  It won't be long before it's gentrified like the rest of the city.

These French-Canadians man.  This choreographed piece is such an incredible artistic expression of the real.

Use the last of the season's best heirloom tomatoes to make a variation of this perfect summer salad asap.  Great for labor day weekend BBQ.  I personally recommend mixing Watermelon, House Pickled Red Onions (marinate sliced red onions in a tiny bit of red wine vinegar), Cucumbers (seeded), Heirloom Tomatoes (mixed colors), Feta Cheese, Basil, pepper, light salt, light olive oil.

Surf rock pioneer Dick Dale is playing Malibu this month for the merry band of coastal drifters that litter the Pacific Coast Highway chasing waves.  I'll be among them.  Now, up until discovering this interpretation of Miserlou, his was my hands down favorite, but move over Dick, another dick is taking over.

Bootsy Bellows, the benchmark nightclub in West Hollywood, re-opened this summer and while working for the company, I've had my share of unbridled fun within it.  It's named after co-owner David Arquette's burlesque dancing mother of yesteryear and there's only one other Bootsy that I've every heard of.  He had a Rubber Band & this track that could make anyone sweat.

Surely, you never heard of Loleattta Holloway before, but her vocals on this song are instantly, universally recognizable.  Mark Wahlberg is one of the most of successful stars in the world and likely would be no where if it wasn't for Loleatta.  And for that, I really don't know whether to love her or hate her.  But give this video till at least the 4 minute mark and your admiration for this boss chick will be undebiable.  She gets it in.

Speaking of going nuts... this an awesome movie on the subject.  Masterful mind tricks.  Watch it.  Netflix.

Netflix is doing so much right right now.  I love how they've taken over comedy hour specials.  This routine Chris Tucker does on Michael Jackson is one of the best bits I've seen in a long time.  Glad he's back to being funny this guy.
